The Avengers Infinity War Doctor Strange Time Loop Could Defeat Thanos

While we look forward to the release of Avengers 4 next year, the internet is inundated with theories about how the Avengers will come back to be annihilated.

In Infinity War, although he says he would never give Time Stone back to Thanos, Dr. Strange did it in an exchange for Tony Stark's life – completing Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet and giving him the tools to eliminate half of the universe.

It was a strange thing for Doctor Strange to do it – all the more so as he had used his powers to discover the possible future on 14,000 605 ways that lead to victory for the good ones.

But one theory suggested that Dr. Strange's plan for Avengers 4 had already arrived.

An article by LAdit, a Reddit user, suggests that Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) used Thanos with Time Stone to his advantage and set up a time loop to retrieve the stones.

As you remember from his stand-alone movie, Strange trapped Dormammu in a time loop that was resetting every time Strange was killed, Dormammu eventually agreeing to leave the Earth and take Kaecilius with him.

"Strange casts a time-loop spell hidden on Time Stone (as he did on Dormammu) and cheats Thanos for him to accept, pretending to want to save Tony.
