SOMERVILLE, Mass. (AP) – The Boston Red Sox have not won this year's American League East division championship, but a banner was accidentally unveiled.

Friends of Louie Iacuzzi, James Amaral and Randy Baldasarri told WFXT-TV that they came for a coffee in Somerville, Massachusetts on Monday morning when they saw something on the road.

By removing the brown paper package, they thought it was jerseys. The men, all fans of Red Sox, were amazed to learn that it was the banner of the US East Division.

A spokesman for the Red Sox told the station that the banner had apparently fallen off a vendor's delivery truck.

The team has planned to send a courier to retrieve the banner on Wednesday.
