Less than half of Americans believe that the Trump administration is "competent"

More people trust Bob Woodward's new book Fear to believe that Donald Trump's administration is "competent".

In a new SurveyMonkey-led Axios survey of 2,173 US adults, 46% of respondents said the Trump administration was "competent." Fifty-five percent of those surveyed said on the Trump administration, called Fear.

The survey shows a clear difference of belief based on political affiliation. Thus, nearly nine in ten Republicans think the Trump administration is competent against 13% of Democrats. According to the report, African-American women were the least likely to believe that the Trump administration was competent and those living in rural areas were the most likely to see skills at the White House.

Opinions on Woodward's book tell a similar story. More than eight in ten Democrats believe Woodward, but only 30 percent of Republicans believe the book is accurate. African-American women are the most likely to believe Fear and people living in rural areas are less likely to see a value there.

The findings come as the Trump administration continues to receive reports that the president is unstable and erratic. Indeed, these claims were made in both Fear and a recently published op The New York Times from an unidentified senior official.

However, the findings of Axios / SurveyMonkey suggest that partisanship still reigns supreme. And those who have stood against or against Trump have not changed in light of the book's revelations or editorials.
