"Brad and Angelina organized a secret meeting at her house," says the source. "This is the first time they have really gotten together to get things done since their group therapy with children, and the Brad and Angie meeting was a success and they will stay with the court plan. "

"Angelina decided that it was time to try to make things work and Brad was relieved and very ready for the offer," the source continues. "Brad has been dedicated to making peace throughout the process and now it finally seems that they are at a point where they can create a calmer situation for the kids."

Pitt and Jolie's legal drama has recently resurfaced after Jolie, 43, was ordered by a judge in June to help fix her children's relationship with Pitt. According to court records obtained at the time by ET, the actor was able to spend more time with five of his children – Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12 and 10. Knox and Vivienne, two-year-old twins, during the summer, while Maddox, 16, "because of his age and maturity," was able to determine how long he wanted to spend with his father.

In August, Angelina Jolie accused Pitt, 54, of not paying "valid" child support for a year and a half at a hearing, and said that she intended to obtain a court order directing her to pay. "Angelina loves her children a lot and it seems like she felt threatened to waste time with them and in turn she attacked … Unfortunately, all the family members suffered."

The source notes that the meeting between Jolie and Pitt was a "big step" for both.

"They both hope to continue working together for the children," says the source.
