The devastated family and friends of Celia Barquin Arozamena break the silence after the brutal shooting death of the star of golf.
The golf star of Iowa State University was found dead Monday at Coldwater Golf Links in Ames. The 22-year-old civil engineering student from Spain was wounded in the chest, head and neck by stab wounds.
Collin Daniel Richards, 22, was charged with first degree murder.
On Wednesday, Barquin Arozamena's brother, Andres, spoke to reporters in Spain on behalf of his family, saying they were fighting after the unexpected death of their daughter and sister.
"We are all together, trying to get together," he told reporters, according to CBS.
"We are all very touched by what happened," he said of the family's sorrow. "We ask you to respect the pain the family is going through because we need a little more privacy.

The inhabitants of Barquin Arozamena's hometown, Puente San Miguel, held a minute of silence for the golfer following the tragic announcement of KCCI Des Moines reports. The local council also declared three days of mourning for Barquin Arozamena.
Professional golfers around the world support him by wearing black ribbons.
In addition to her family, Barquin Arozamena coach Christie Martens spoke about the loss of her "special" player, who was previously the University's female athlete, and the conversation she had with the mother of Barquin Arozamena.

"It was a lot of confidence that she put in me and I do not take that trust lightly," Martens said in tears at KCCI Des Moines. "It was very difficult, but I think what was most important to me was that she said that Cel was happy every day she was there, and even though all of this happened, if we decided again, we would always send it to the state of Iowa.
Martens also told CBS News about Barquin Arozamena's cheerful personality. "She was so happy, she just had that great light on her," recalled the coach. "She's really special to me. And I really like it a lot.

Iowa State University has several projects in action to honor Barquin Arozamena this week, starting with a campus vigil Wednesday night.
Before his death, Barquin Arozamena was to be honored for his golf exploits at the university football game on Saturday. The game will now serve as a memorial for the athlete instead.
Although the reason for the killing of young women remains uncertain, the police do not believe that the accused Richards, whom the authorities described as homeless, knew Barquin Arozamena.
The police were called to the golf course Monday morning after golfers discovered a bag without anyone. Shortly after, Barquin Arozamena's body was found in a pond on the course.
During the investigation, the police met with a man who had camped with Richards along a nearby hiking trail, claiming that Richards had stated that he "had want to rape and kill a woman.

Richards made his first court appearance on Tuesday. A judge fixed his bail at $ 5 million. Richards has not yet pleaded.
His lawyer, Paul Rounds, told PEOPLE: "I just hope people keep their minds open until the case goes to trial."
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 28th.
