Week 2 Movie Notes on Chiefs, Chargers, Robbers, Broncos and Jaguars

With the extra cyber-ink for the NFL's most thrilling attack (and the defense it has to wear for the moment), here are the movie nuggets from Week 2 on AFC West and the Jaguars' win over the Patriots..

The Chiefs

The Steelers seemed lost trying to defend the Kansas City passing game.

Yes, the Steelers have a defense that does not run very well.

Still, I suggest – hyperbole alert! – when the Chiefs empty their backcourt against most defenses in good weather, the quarterback combo Patrick Mahomes and so many dangerous targets is reminiscent of the famous "line-up of death" popularized by the Golden State Warriors.

Andy Reid's appearance helped Mahomes to always feel at Texas Tech. Specifically, he could better identify blankets and blitzes and get the ball out quickly. (The Jets have less firepower but do it with rookie Sam Darnold.)

It was a shot of turkey.

Mahomes not only found the right clashes and shots, but was rarely hit.

Fortunately, the chefs were fun to watch.

They were arrogant enough too.

Starting from their own 1 in a tight match, they threw a deep pass, the kind of game we prepare the potatoes, but only rarely.

The pass was incomplete, but here's a plausible result: Tyreek Hill's film taking a step forward and Mahomes almost hitting him for a 99-yard touchdown will scare away opponents at other times when the Chiefs line up near their goal line.

Scary Part II

The time elapsed between Mahomes and his top three targets – Hill, Travis Kelce and Sammy Watkins – has improved compared to Week 1.

A good synchronization between Mahomes and Hill beat Artie Burns, a very good cornerback, on two key games: 1) a 39-yard rear-shoulder laser to open the second half of the match, which led to a TD shipment; 2) a series of throws, which makes it a two-point lead.

The poor Burns had no help with security because of the spreads. Mahome loves so empty that the back-back has crossed the line and the field rather than lingering to block.

Freako

Football fans are more than Mahome because they are ready and sound, but most quarterbacks should not try.

Think of a fine short-stop – the former Padres player, Ozzie Smith, for once – who can strike from different angles while charging.

Mahomes throws shots without getting fixed, which means the ball goes home faster.

Remember that his week 1 passes that Derwin James, the security guard of the Chargers, broke in the end zone?

Mahomes hit the ball 40 meters from the mark while moving towards the line a deployment.

Sunday in Pittsburgh, he hit the receiver Demarcus Robinson with a cross shot of the same action.

Do not try this at home. You are not Patrick Mahomes.

Headaches

Remember the failed uprising mentioned above by Mahomes from his end zone that was just wide of Hill?

Good idea, but in the next game where the Chiefs tried to beat a few meters, the Steelers brutalized them. Demetrius Harris, who looks like a former basketball player, missed a block on T.J. Watt, resulting in a security.

Defensively, the leaders were porous again.

Reggie Ragland, perhaps rusty or injured, missed two tackles against Alabama. Eric Murray – the injured All-Pro safety replacement Eric Berry – beat on a Big-Ben bag. Breffants' chief Breeland Speaks left the back tight Jess James to keep him from staying too long, allowing him to touch a field a short distance. Speaks was the key to the game as two tackles doubled line-up Chris Jones.

Chargers

Rookie Kyzir White made a special game that pushed the Bills.

He pivoted twice while falling to defend a deep diagonal run against tight end Jason Croom.

Then, set up by his fluid retreat, White closed quickly and made a bouncy interception that his good height – 6 feet 2 inches – helped to allow.

Thus, by creating an old security in West Virginia that had three interceptions and four defensive hits last year, but is also strong in the tackling area, what Team Spanos has done is accelerate fourth round picks.

Rookie Derwin James ignited the defense with lightning strikes, including a six-meter rush behind that was too fast for the blocker in the area and quarterback Josh Allen. Cashing out Allen's help, rookie Ochenna Nwosu fired Allen after rushing to the left.

See the trend?

Three rookie defensemen played games.

Also include defensive lineman rookie Justin Jones. It looks like it will supplant Corey Liuget or Darius Philon or both next year.

Jones was eliminated from Philip Rivers U in the third round.

Use the pencil to check the boxes, but it seems that Team Spanos has reached its first 4 choices. And rookie blocker Scott Quessenberry of San Diego also has a chance.

Antonio Gates is he old by the standards of football? Of course, but when the old man ran a short road into the end zone, two defenders of the Bills put it aside. Advantage, Gates teammates.

Allen's experience was a boon to Team Spanos. Give the former Wyoming star a D / D-less for his performance but a C for a first career start.

The thieves

Two strong games so far with the best player, Kolton Miller, who has retained his protection. In addition, his good lineup hit the game outside the race.

Amari Cooper has regained his confidence.

Marshawn Lynch shook the defenders. It looks like he'll be heading to the Patriots later in the season when the Raiders are 4-8.

Leon Hall is 33 years old and that may be the reason why the Raiders have lost. Vista High's alum made a lot of tackles in the NFL but could not knock out young receiver Tim Patrick with 12 seconds left and Denver away. The leak allowed Patrick to go out of bounds, setting up the winning kick.

Broncos

Philip Lindsay, the Colorado rookie, made another fun and neat performance. I repeat: can he resist? If it was MLB, it would go on the list of ghosts turned off at one point to keep it whole.

The best player Bradley Chubb took a big break when the back of the Raiders, Keith Smith, escaped a fourth pass. Confused defenseman, Chubb hijacked Smith as Derek Carr dropped the ball. Undeniable, Smith would have had a lot of room to maneuver (the back sides did not turn, they growled or growled).

jaguars

Raiders fans will be thrilled to know D.J. Hayden has played two solid games for defending AFC South champions. Hayden, who finished 12th in Oakland in 2013, replaces a good player in the Aaron Colvin time slot.

For Blake Bortles, it was a good game in the overall standings, but he became too nervous with a two-point lead late in the game. Leading with his helmet on a descent, he hit the Stephon Gilmore cornerback. Not really smart.

Dante Fowler is in her year of walking. I would like to be his agent. The former best sniper beat the right tackle, LaAdrian Wadle, with a fast-paced move. He recovered the tackle from Tom Brady after hitting the ball.

The Pats seemed slow on the defense. They could not follow Keenan Cole. Two years ago, the receiver was removed from Kentucky Wesleyan. Geek Alert II: Former General Manager of Chargers A.J. Smith, the 2004 NFL Executive of the Year, is a former Alberta Albertan (1971 class) who evaluates the school's football program. Back to Cole. His clever footwork creates clean versions and a high-level separation. Think of Doug Baldwin of the Seahawks, although Cole, 6-1, three inches higher.
