132,000 pounds of ground beef recalled for E. coli concerns

A reminder was issued by the USDA about 132,606 pounds of ground beef products processed and packaged by Cargill Meat Solutions.

The ground beef comes from the part of the carcass chuck and officials say that it can be contaminated with E. coli.

Contaminated products were wrapped on June 21st and have the establishment number "EST". 86R. The USDA says these ground beef products have been shipped all over the country.

The recall comes from the investigation of 17 diseases and one death that, according to the USDA, comes from contaminated beef provided by Cargill Meat Solutions. These cases were reported between 5 and 25 July and the authorities said the products had been purchased at various retail stores across the country.

The recall alert was issued because officials are concerned that some of the products are still in consumers' freezers. Those who have purchased the product are advised not to consume them and to discard the meat or return it to the place of purchase.
