It is unlikely that UEFA will launch the book to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Juventus superstar will only be allowed one UEFA Champions League match for the red card they received on Wednesday in their team's win over Valencia, according to Jamie Jackson of the Guardian. The announced penalty means Ronaldo will miss the Juventus home game against the Young Boys on October 2, but will be available to face the former Manchester United club on Oct. 23 at Old Trafford.
Referee Felix Brych fired Ronaldo in the 29th minute of Valencia against Juventus after he hit Jeison Murillo in an offside incident. Ronaldo and Juventus protested vehemently, but to no avail.
Ronaldo left the stadium Mestalla in tears.
Subsequently, Ronaldo's sister, Katia Aveiro, used Instagram to pitch the referee and the UEFA officials in defense of his brother.
"Shame on football," she wrote. "Justice will be done. You want to destroy my brother. Shameful".
The fury surrounding Ronaldo's red card should go out next month when he returns to Manchester United's Old Trafford for the first time as a Juventus player. Ronaldo played for Manchester United between 2003 and 2009 and became a club legend helping to win three Premier League titles, an England Cup, two League Cups, a FIFA Club World Cup. He left the Red Devils for Real Madrid in 2009 for a transfer price then record.
