NEW YORK – According to Mr. Cornell, a prominent food research professor resigned after an investigation revealed that he had committed academic misconduct.

The school indicates that Brian Wansink will retire at the end of the school year next June and that he has been removed from his teaching duties. Thursday's announcement came one day after the medical journal removed six of Wansink's newspapers.

The JAMA journal network withdrew the newspapers on Wednesday, saying the search could not be verified. In response, Wansink said he was proud of the newspapers and was convinced that they would be replicated by other groups. Many of his other papers had been removed or corrected in the past.

The latest retracted research includes a 2005 study according to which people eat more when they are served in large bowls.
