As long-time readers may know, I am Jewish. Now, I am what some call a non-practicing member of the Jewish religion, but hey, I've been bar-mitsvahed, I'm celebrating the big Jewish holidays, I've seen Neil Diamond in concert seven times.
And Yom Kippur has always been one of my favorite holidays.
I will let MyJewishLearning.com describe it: Yom Kippur is "the day at the end of which, according to tradition, God seals the books of life and death for next year." The day is dedicated to community repentance for the sins committed the course of the previous year … so that the community and the individual be inscribed in the Book of Life for the coming year. "
Or, as I described to my 6 year old daughter last weekend, we apologize for all the mistakes we made last year, so we can start over again trying to do better. 39; future.
I am by no means trying to trivialize one of the holiest days of the Jewish religion, but the themes of forgiveness, recoil and understanding of your mistakes, your hopes and your of your desire to do better in the future are universal themes.
Themes that, for example, might work well for a fantastic football columnist looking for an intro. Knowing that I would spend a lot of time repenting for real sins this week, I was thinking of the calls I would like to make in the world of fantasy football. Situations that I would like to enlighten now, to help you move forward.
And so, good reader, in this spirit, I declare Thursday, September 20, the day of the expiation of fantasy football.
With time to allow myself to think, I would like to apologize for …
• Not to be on board with Brandin Cooks as a fantastic actor in Los Angeles. A whimsical but inconsistent option last season, he was coming into his third team in three years with a "start-up" percentage of 47.9% over the past three seasons according to Tristan H. Cockcroft's consistency ratings. I thought it would be more Sammy Watkins from 2017, and Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp were higher. Yeah … it was wrong. He ran 246 yards in his first two games with the Rams (he's had 213 yards in his last five games with the Patriots). Sean McVay clearly knows how to use his new toy.
• Do not see that the passing offense of the Bengals would take a major step. I thought the additions to the off season indicated a much more race-oriented offense and that I was watching Andy Dalton and AJ Last season, Green had made me think that they tended to fend in the wrong direction regarding their skills. Good. It is of course fueled by the four-game Dalton just won against Baltimore, but the Red Rifle has now played 16 games with offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Here is the list of players with more touchdown passes in this period: Russell Wilson and Tom Brady. That's all. That's the whole list. Green appeared to be reborn and Tyler Boyd emerged, with only one run less than Green this season and representing 46% of the Bengals' slot targets so far.
• Thinking a healthy David Johnson would be safe from a change of coach and shift. Arizona has 13 offensive snaps less this season than any other NFL team. The Cardinals had the offensive shot less than the Buffalo Bills. DJ is 22nd among the RBs on the exploited roads. In his 2016 monster season, he ran over 100 more roads than any other RB. It is unlikely that this will improve against Chicago this week.
• Make people subscribe to ESPN + and watch The Fantasy Show see Daniel shirtless all the time.
• Believing that when The & # 39; Veon Bell tweeted this summer that he would play Week 1 and that his agent said in an interview this summer that Bell would play the first week, this would happen. I had Bell as my first player in the pre-season because of that (I was not alone) and how long it had been an elite option. In 2016 and 2017, Bell missed five games and again had 78 more touches than any other NFL player in this period. I'm all for players to get as much money as they can in the short window they have, but I think it's finally making a mistake here. Anyway, my mistake did not take into account his risks when ranking.
• Do not think that Matt Breida could be a workaholic. You know I adore his talent – I literally hit a drums on TV last season – but when Jerick McKinnon was hurt, I realized that I had supported him in my ranks. My concern was that I did not believe that Breida could bear the burden and that Morris, who looked good in a limited time last season and this preseason, not to mention know the Shanahan system, work of goal line. It's early, it remains to be seen whether Breida can withstand this use, but considering that he is entering Week 3 in the NFL's lead, it's clear that Breida, not Morris, is the 49th that currently counts .
• I thought I had to apologize to my wife for watching episodes of "Homeland" on SHOWTIME without her, because I'm not really sorry to do that. I mean, she fell asleep on the couch. What am I supposed to do? Break was really important.
• For the writing of LeSean McCoy. It was the 10th pick of the third round in a 12-team league and, of course, Shady was on a two-season stretch during which he touched the ball 630 times. On a team without playmakers, I thought pure volume would offset the lack of offensive efficiency. The Bills currently have a differential of under-55 points and now McCoy is injured. He has just 21 keys. Yeesh.
• Do not hit hard on Patrick Mahomes drum in the pre-season. Look, he was in my big pre-season column "100 Facts" with a bunch of positive statistics. He was also on the preseason list "Love". And that's part of what I wrote about it: "I adore everything about interceptions during the pre-season. All it does, it's going on." to lower its already low QB20 ADP – probably this year's Carson Wentz. "That's what I wrote in early August, all of that is okay and awesome, but dude … I was still not high enough on him. I should have shouted from the roofs. It's not a fluke, dude. If we were writing today, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady would be the only QBs that I would take care of. And considering Brady's age and Rodgers' injury, I would not look wrong at you when he was the first QB on the board.
• For not having invented the trip in time because, if I did, I would use technology to travel back in time until January 26, 1992 and tell Matthew Berry's young version of 39, enjoy the last victory of the Redskins Super Bowl one in his life. How do we lose at home against the Colts? Come on guys. Insert your favorite shaking head GIF here. I am in favor of Captain Picard.
• This "Sorry" Justin Bieber keeps getting through my head as I write this and, since I mentioned it, I'm sorry it probably goes through all day.

Before diving into this week's column, some administrative notes:
First of all, a big thank you to everyone who sent notes, e-mails, tweets and texts about Travis Anderson. If you have not read his story, I strongly encourage you to do it.
Travis asked me to say the following: "Just convey how much I appreciate everyone's support, when something like that happens and you suddenly live one day at a time, have all these positive notes." encouraging. " at 86.52, 0-2 for the first time in years. Maybe my mind is elsewhere. "
The V Foundation, the Vikings and Kirk Cousins have all been in touch with Travis, like many of you. If you would like to speak to Travis and support him, please send him a tweet. He does not tweet much, but he reads everyone.
Finally, I appreciate all the comments I've received on the new column format. Really. I have too many to answer, but I read everyone. People have been very kind in trying to come up with this new weekly format, but one criticism that has come up is that people have trouble navigating and (surprisingly at least for me) can not say if I'm high or low on a player for the week. For me, it has always been the beauty of the column. I present facts without comment, but the main idea is that the facts lead you to the opinion that I have of the player. But on a weekly basis, I can see where, when you're just browsing your teammates against a glimpse of the preparation of a lot of players, this can be difficult.
As always, I suggest you check out my Sunday morning standings and watch Fantasy Football Now (from 10am to 1pm ET on ESPN2) for my final opinion on the players, but I'll try to organize it by player and by position . if it helps.
Remember that you can do statistics to say anything you want. So, here are a lot of facts, positive and negative, about the third week. Some relate to players, still others matches, and none of them tells the whole story. What you do with them depends on you.
Here are 50 facts to know before week 3:
quarterfinals
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
1. If you have taken 13 fantastic points in the two weeks total of Mahomes, it would still be QB2 this season.
2. In the last 17 weeks (a busy football season), the San Francisco 49ers, against which Mahomes are playing this week, rank among the last five touchdown defenses and yards allowed.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
3. Fitzpatrick ranks fourth in the aerial yards average per pass attempt this season.
4. It ranks second in number of deep TD passes.
4a. He has four touchdown passes of at least 35 yards this season.
4b. No other QB has more than one.
5. This week, he faces a Steelers defense that has given five touchdown passes that have run at least 15 yards.
6. The Steelers have also allowed the greatest number of gains over 20 yards this season.
6a. It has nothing to do with the game, but it still leaves me crazy: Fitzpatrick, a career replacement in his 14th season in the NFL, at the age of 35, has the most fantastic points by two quarters … since the NFL / Fusion AFL.
Andy Dalton, Bengals of Cincinnati
7. In the 16 games under the direction of offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, Dalton has 3,434 passing yards, 31 TD passes and nine INTs, or 247.4 fantastic points in the ESPN standard score.

23. Lindsay averages 4.3 yards before the contact per race, the NFL's second-best among the RBs.
24. In both Broncos games this season, Lindsay has more hits in the second period than Freeman.
25. There have been only two games, but the Baltimore Ravens (Denver's opponent this week) rank in the last 10 of the NFL in yards per second (4.14).
25a. It does not matter to us – I just think it's cool: Lindsay is the first non-swam player in the history of the NFL with over 100 yards of scrum in her first two career games.
Giovani Bernard, Bengals of Cincinnati
26. In 11 career games with more than 15 carries, Bernard averages 4.4 YPC, 112 total yards per game and 18.3 fantastic PPGs.
