Confetti hit Waltham Shin Lim magician at Dolby Theater in Hollywood On Wednesday night, dance band Zurcaroh won in the air after host Tyra Banks announced it as the winner of America's Got Talent From NBC.
"Shin Lim!" Banks shouted. "Shin Lim: the sexiest magician on the planet!"
Lim, 26, captured America's votes and the grand prize of a million dollars. It will feature the America's Got Talent Live show in Las Vegas, November 2-4.
"Thank you very much to all. I love you all a lot, "Lim said in the camera as the credits rolled.
Throughout the season, Lim seduced Banks and the celebrities who played Mel B, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and even the famous Simon Cowell with his sleight of hand.
For his turn in Tuesday's final, he had something completely different in his sleeve.
He started playing the piano. With a wrist shot, he set fire to the paper music and turned it into a deck of cards.
He then went to a table where Banks waited and asked him to throw a pair of dice. Nine has come. He threw away the deck of cards he was holding and only the four of them remained. When he asked Banks to choose a suit, she chose hearts – suddenly, Lim revealed nine hearts cards again and again.
Later, dozens of maps seemed to float behind Lim and fly over the scene. Lim snapped his fingers and most cards fell to the ground. Those who remained spelled "9 <3".
"It's good to know that, like the Americans, we love close-up magic," Lim said in an interview after the semi-finals. "It's a little crazy. It's still a dream.
Lim, whose parents are from Singapore, was born in Canada and grew up in Acton.
He has been playing the piano since the age of 9 and intends to become a professional musician until he is diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome at age 19. He started practicing magic at age 16.
Winner of the 2015 World Championships of the International Federation of Magic Societies, most of Lim's professional concerts took place abroad, which is why he decided to try "America's Got Talent" in March.
"I want America to know about me," he said earlier. "I thought" America's Got Talent "was a great platform to present my act."
