Brie Larson was supposed to smile in "Captain Marvel", so she smiled at Marvel Dudes

The trailer of Captain Marvel that fell Tuesday excited the fans, not only because it showed a series of super powers: fly, super strength, draw energy with the fingertips, but because it is the first film.

But the trailer also highlighted the usual sex trolls. A stew of most male social media users biased the performance of Larson, the caller "in wood" and affirm that she should "smile more" – a form of widespread harassment that objectifies women by making them understand that their emotions and appearance must be controlled and that they are for the pleasure of others.

A totally normal and well adjusted person went so far as to make Photoshop smile on the promotional material of the film:

Larson responded with an Instagram story with Marvel posters with photoshopped smiles on the (male) heroes, hilariously underlining the hypocrisy of his sexist critics. They look incredibly scary and stupid because superheroes tend to look serious when they are at work, saving the world:

Other Twitter users quickly followed suit, throwing a veil over many smiling male faces:

Captain Marvel is a fighter pilot who gets superpowers and spends his time fighting a bunch of moving aliens and other things. She does not have time for anyone telling her to smile.
