Syracuse New York shoots "leaves five wounded"

Five people, including a child, were injured in a shootout in the city of Syracuse, New York, local sources said.

According to eyewitnesses, a family reunited to celebrate the life of a parent recently deceased during Thursday's shootings.

Firefighters indicated that emergency services responded to a call about an incident on Midland Avenue.

Ambulances were seen leaving the area around 21:15 (01:15 GMT).

Later, police said the shots came from across the street, hitting the lawn where the victims had gathered for a memorial, according to a US media outlet.

The details of the victims, aged between eight and 35, have not yet been disclosed. None of the injuries suffered would threaten life.

Images posted on social networks showed a street area surrounded by police cars and agents lined up on the road, according to locals.
