Aaron Howard was shot dead on September 1 in the alley behind his home in Abilene, Texas. His two neighbors, John and Michael Miller, were charged with the assassination after Howard's fiancée caught them shooting at her husband.
Howard's fiancée, Kara Box, fired the deadly dispute on her cellphone and handed it to local ABC station KTXS. You can see the video box recorded below. Know that the video is graphic and disturbing, and may not be suitable for some viewers.
In the video, you can hear Howard telling the Millers that they will go to jail. Much of the video is broadcast because of vulgar language, but threats can be heard from both sides, as John Miller continues to tell Howard to "pull out".
John Miller says at one point: "If you approach me, I will kill you.
"Hey, do you hear that he's going to kill me?" Howard asks Box. He turns to Miller and tells him to lower the rifle and go inside. Howard becomes angrier and starts shouting that Miller "fired a weapon in front of him [our] children!
You can then hear both arguments about what resembles the law of "stand your ground" in Texas, which gives individuals the right to use lethal force to defend themselves as long as they have the right to do so. to be threatened. usually owned by his own property. Box and Howard then tell Miller he's in an alley and the law does not protect them there.
Howard then threatens to kill Miller, who says, "I doubt it". The two continue to wonder if Howard should be threatening Miller if he intends to show the video to the police, and Miller continues to urge Howard to "take a momentum, get going."
The heated exchange began after an argument over a mattress left in an alley. The three men were heard making threats until John Miller opened fire, shooting Howard several times. Michael Miller opens fire, pulling the trigger on his shotgun.
At one point in the video, we can hear Box say "you're not going to shoot my husband," after walking between the men and Howard. However, she told KTXS that they had begun to fire over her shoulder, despite the fact that she was between them.
"You can see that I intervened between them and I said," You will not shoot my husband, "he said.
The dispute began between John Miller and Howard, when Michael Miller went to fetch a shotgun. Inside Edition reports that someone also went to Howard's house to search for a baseball bat. The two Millers reportedly shot Howard, who died as a result of his injuries.
"He [Howard] did not even swing it, he threw it on both their heads and he landed behind them in the alley, "Box told KTXS. "It's at that point that the old man has gone over my face and shot Aaron twice on the chest with the gun."
Taylor County Attorney Jim Hicks told KTXS: "Video evidence like this is still graphic and very hard to look at. But, that matches the charges, "said Hicks.
John and Michael Miller have both been charged with first degree murder. However, both are jailed on a $ 25,000 bail, according to KTXS.
"People deserve to know what has really happened and you know that they deserve to know that John and Michael Miller are murderers," Box told KTXS.
