Texas Father, son caught on video shooting their neighbor to death as a result of garbage dispute

A video released Wednesday seems to show the shooting death of a Texas man by his two neighbors. The video shows the three men fighting over garbage before a man and his son shoot their weapons.

Johnnie Dee Allen Miller, 67, and his 31-year-old son, Michael Theodore Miller, were charged with first degree murder of the death of Aaron Howard, 37 years old. An argument between the three men about garbage took place on September 1 and the Millers opened fire on Howard.

The fatal incident was captured on the video of a mobile phone by Howard's fiancée, Kara Box. The graphic video captured the dispute between Howard and the Millers. The three men were heard making threats, until Johnnie Miller shot Howard with his pistol.

Seconds later, Michael Miller was seen aiming his shotgun and shooting.

Box told KTXS, who first broadcast the video, that she believed people needed to know what had happened to Howard. "People deserve to know what has really happened and you know that they deserve to know that John and Michael Miller are murderers," she said.

Box said she stepped between the men and told the Millers, "You're not going to shoot my husband." At least four shots were fired. Box was seen running towards his fiancée, who she called her husband, shouting.

Box did not immediately respond to NewsweekRequest for comment. However, in Facebook posts posted after the release of videos on KTXS, Box defended her decision to share the video and said she was arguing for justice.

"Now, I will defend my husband's name and memory and do everything I can to ensure that his killers are brought to justice," wrote Box on Facebook. "I love him fiercely and heartbroken as I am without him, it gives me so much more motivation to fight this much harder problem for him and for the rest of his family who share grief with me.

Taylor District Attorney Jim Hicks told KTXS that the video evidence, such as Box's video, was "always graphic and very hard to look at".

Johnnie and Michael were arrested and jailed in the Taylor County Jail in Abilene, Texas. The men, who were charged with first degree murder, were released on bail of $ 25,000, according to prison records.
