Red Sox fan electrocuted after trying to ride a train from Yankee Stadium

A Red Sox fan, returning from Yankee Stadium, died Wednesday when he attempted to climb over a Metro-North train and was electrocuted by overhead cables, creating a chaotic situation during more than two hours. the runners said.

Train personnel safely lowered a brother, but Michael Vigeant, 24, from Hudson, New Hampshire, hit a catenary wire and was electrocuted, MTA officials said.

The driver called the health professionals over the speakerphone to help the man as the train broke down, knocking out the air conditioning and flush toilets, the drivers said. Meanwhile, the riders, many of whom had been drinking at the game, were more and more agitated. Some threatened to get rid of the windows, and Yankee and Red Sox fans started helping each other.

MTA officials said the train was stopped for only 30 to 40 minutes, but the riders said it was more than two hours.

The train finally arrived at its last stop in New Haven around 3:20 pm on Thursday.
