Brewers hit 3 homers in the 6th inning

PITTSBURGH – Entering Friday's game against the Pirates, PNC Park has not been a venue for the Brewers in 2018.

On Friday, much of this frustration came as soon as the Brewers scored six runs in the sixth inning before winning an 8-3 win that put their magic number in a five-game playoff spot. Milwaukee is now just 1 ½ game away from the Cubs for the head of the National Central League after their loss to rival White Sox on Friday night.

But that was not done without drama. Entrance Jhoulys Chacin The Pirates took a 3-1 lead before the game was delayed by two hours and fourteen minutes because of the rain. Brewers must have spent their rainy time in the batting cage.

Travis Shaw, Mike Moustakas and Erik Kratz everything was conceded in the sixth inning as part of a rally of six races on the pirates Edgar Santana and Steven Brault.

Shaw's two-handed strike in the right field scored Jesus Aguilar and gave Milwaukee the lead. It was the 30th circuit of the Shaw season, joining Aguilar and Christian Yelich as Brewers with 30 or more home runs this season. The Cleveland Indians are the only other baseball team with three players of this type.

Moustakas then made two home runs in the center right, two strikes later. It was his 27th birthday and the seventh since he had joined the Brewers on July 27th.

Kratz then returned one after the other with a projection of 417 feet per Statcast ™, in the deepest part of the PNC park, in the center left. Kratz has six home runs this season, the biggest since he's hit nine times with Philadelphia in 2013.

It was the ninth time this season that the Brewers have hit home twice. Milwaukee came into play Friday with 199 home homesteads, tied for seventh in the majors with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Keon Broxton added a home run in the seventh inning to give the Brewers four or more races in a game for the seventh time this season.

Since returning to the brewing rotation on September 3rd, the right-handed Zach Davies has an ERA of 3.00 but has not started the sixth round yet. He allowed two runs over five innings in his last outing, against the Pirates, and faces Pittsburgh again on Saturday. Trevor Williams (13-9, 3.16) will take the ball for the Bucs. The first launch is scheduled for 18:05 CT at PNC Park.
