Quarterback Dwayne Haskins made five touchdown passes in the first half on Saturday to lead No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes to a 49-6 win over Tulane's Wave Wave at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.
Haskins' last outstanding performance helped ease the return of OSU head coach, Urban Meyer, who served a three-game suspension for dealing with spousal abuse allegations against former assistant Zach Smith. The team went 3-0 in his absence.
Ohio State overtook Tulane 570-256 and got a 32-15 advantage in the first few tries.
Haskins strengthens its Heisman case with flawless performance
The Ohio State QB was on the field for five races Saturday afternoon. Here are his numbers on each:
1st: 4 of 4 for 74 yards and a TD
2nd: 3 of 3 for 38 yards and a TD
3rd: 3 of 4 for 59 yards and a TD
4th: 4 of 4 for 67 yards and a TD
5th: 7 out of 9 for 66 yards and a TD
Total: 21 of 24, 304 passing yards, five touchdowns
It's an effort at the level of the Heisman Trophy regardless of the opponent.

Haskins entered the year as one of the most prominent players in the country, and he lived up to expectations, even surpassing. He completed 72.5% of his throws for 890 yards with 11 touchdowns and interception on the team's first three games.

He could have displayed impressive numbers if OSU did not release it at half-time. But a team with title aspirations can not risk its most important player when the outcome is beyond doubt.
Heaskan's chances of Haskins never bowed on the Tulane match. He will have to score big numbers against the most formidable enemies of the Buckeyes calendar – the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Michigan State Spartans and the Michigan Wolverines – to win the highest individual honor of college football.
His near-perfect release on Saturday will keep him at the forefront of the conversation as OSU tackles the hard part of the schedule.
Parris Campbell Key to Buckeyes & # 39; Championship Chances
Ohio State does not lack talented playmakers on both sides of the ball. Campbell continued to show why he is in this category on Saturday with eight catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns.
The senior defender has collected at least one point in all four games of the team. It is also one of the most important X factors of OSU.

Campbell's ability to beat the defenses on top while he works outside the slot machine is not getting enough attention. Not only is it a match-up nightmare for the opponent's No. 3 cornerback, but it also creates extra space for the likes of K.J. Hill and Terry McLaurin.
Add value as a leader with great gaming experience, and it's hard to measure its value. But if the team fights for a spot in the college football playoffs and a national title, Campbell will likely play an important role in this trip.
Tulane must bounce back before the opening of the AAC
The Green Wave could not compete with the Buckeyes at any point in the game, and it did not take them more than two minutes after the kickoff to realize that an alert was not necessary to the Horseshoe.
That being said, Tulane was an outsider of 37.5 points for a reason, and the best thing that head coach Willie Fritz can do is take the streak out of that game. It was not a fair fight, and the team will not face any opponents near the Ohio State level the rest of the season.
However, there were some bright spots. The tandem of Corey Dauphine and Darius Bradwell has gained 82 yards in 11 combined races and is expected to inflict damage on AAC enemies. The defense also held the Buckeyes seven points after halftime, although most of the OSU runners were removed.
The real season starts next week for Tulane, though. If it can bounce back with a win over the Memphis Tigers to kick off the conference, Saturday's unbalanced loss will blend in with the rearview mirror and the green wave may focus on a surprise run towards an AAC title.
And after?
Ohio State will be back next Saturday for a crucial clash between Big Ten and No. 10 Penn State in a game that will determine the team that will win the East Division.
Tulane will take the field Friday night against Memphis.
