Tiger Woods has one last chance to win a victory on his last comeback.
Tiger is back on the circuit this weekend at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta for the track championship, the final round of the PGA Tour of the year and the FedExCup Playoff Finals.
Woods caught fire on Saturday, birding six of his first seven holes. He settled from there and headed for the third round 65, which earned him a three-shot lead over Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy on Sunday.
Woods left with McIlroy at 14:05 ET. Follow his last round one-on-one:
Hole 13 – By 4
Right fairway. Starting shot useful here for TW.
Hole 12 – By 4
Tiger returns to 3-wood after his hock on number 10 and this one is perfect in the fairway. Tiger went quite right with his approach to the left front pin and the boy was a beauty. With 8 feet to go, Tiger played a slow putt that just missed. Another par. Even through 12 (12 under the tournament). Four shots on Billy Horschel.
In other news: Patton Kizzire has gone from looking like an average golfer to a local course to remind all of us why he is a pro with these consecutive shots.
Hole 11 – By 3
Tiger finds the green, a little above the pin to the left of the cup. From 18 feet, he misses a little time, but the return to the game allows him to save another by. This flat stick Scotty Cameron is about today. Even through 11 (12 under the tournament). Five shots ahead of Rose and Billy Horschel.
Hole 10 – By 4
Yes His worst swing of the day is reflected in a 3-flared wood right in the gallery. Tiger is forced to hit the fairway from there, except that his ball finds the first break. His approach is about 25 feet above the hole and his par-putt will take a considerable break. No dice. This one is missing and Tiger makes his first bogey of the day on the n ° 10. Even through 10 (12 under the tournament). Five shots on Rose and Billy Horschel (who has 2-under-13 holes).
Reflections at the turn
Tiger is making fun of today 's journey. After his birdie on No. 1, it seemed like we were going to see Tiger make a call. Instead, we saw some excellent tee shots and safe approaches to the green. He has a cushion and he keeps it with consistent pars and minimal errors. Unless there is a colossal collapse or a herculean effort from Rose or McIlroy, it will be Tiger's No. 80 win.
Hole 9 – By 3
Tiger paints the center of the green here on No. 9. This putt has had a big break and Tiger is lagging behind and closes his front nine closely with a 1-under 34 (13 under for the tournament). Five shots ahead of Rose.
Hole 8 – By 4
Tiger plays a massive cut and it goes too far to the right and finds a bunker. His approach is safe in the middle of the green from there. Not bad at all. His effort from 50 feet is as good as you can without stopping, a few feet away to set up another par. 1-under to 8 (13 under for the tournament). Four shots ahead of Rose.
Hole 7 – By 4
Absolutely surgical t-shirt this weekend, Tiger slipped his 3-wood into the No. 7 alley. Tiger went for this one and he's a bit long, but still in the green and up to 20 feet. Nothing to see here, two putt by. 1 under 7 (13 under for the tournament). Five shots ahead of Rose.
Hole 6 – By 5
Driver on the par 5 is crushed on the right side of the fairway and he will be able to get to it in two strokes to set up a possible eagle. A 4-iron from 217 yards is just a little too hard, landing on the green and passing the hole in the rough just next to the dance floor. It's really thick, so depending on how the ball is buried, it could be a difficult chip. Tiger has tried to become a little too cute with this one and does not hit him hard enough. The bullet barely went out of the ground and went a few meters on the bangs. He will have a putt from there for the birdie, and should be able to go out with a peer at worst.
And then he does that. He left the birdie far too short, but he converts the four feet to par. Disappointing after a good reader. 1-to-6 (13 under for the tournament). Five strokes ahead of Rose and McIlroy.
Hole 5 – By 4
BOOM! Tiger smokes this one at 325 meters from the fairway. His consistency at the start this week was unreal. His approach is green, right hairpin. The 20 feet of Tiger gets as close as possible without falling, and he converts another by two. 1 under 5 (13 under for the tournament). Five shots ahead of Rose.
Hole 4 – By 4
Tiger tries to play a cut here but this one had a little too much movement and finds the good rough. You could barely see his ball in the rough, and the bad lie forces Tiger's second shot into a sand pit of the green. Good-not-good sand gets Tiger at about 10 feet. It's a great bet to stay 1 under 4 (13 under for the tournament). Four shots ahead of Rose.
Hole 3 – By 4
Tiger folds with an iron and this one is safe on the right side of the fairway. Click here to tap from Tiger just to a shade of more than 110 meters and this one lands about 20 feet behind the hole and comes to rest, setting up another birdie putt. No luck with this putt. Tiger had the wrong line and bad speed, but he has two shots for par. 1 under 3 (13 under for the tournament). Four points ahead of McIlroy and Rose.
Hole 2 – By 3
Safe shot in the middle of the green on par 3. Just south of 40 feet, Tiger is lagging behind and touches par. 1-to-2 (13 under for the tournament). Four points ahead of McIlroy and Rose.
Hole 1 – By 4
And it's gone. In his red Sunday, Tiger accompanies the driver on the No. 1 and it is perfect on the fairway. His approach from there is just as good, going straight to the right front pin that is guarded by a bunker. He will have 10 feet for an opening birdie. He started again! Another birdie from the first hole has the tiger 1 under 1 (13 under for the tournament). Lead four strokes.
