Six members of Paul Gosar's republican republic urge the Arizonans to get him out of their office in a new advertising campaign that highlights the intense political divisions of another family.
The announcement was posted on the internet by Gosar's Democratic opponent David Brill. "We have to defend our reputation," says David Gosar. Tim Gosar adds, "Intervention time and talk time means you're going to vote. And you will vote Paul. "
The eldest of 10 siblings, Mr. Gosar won his first race in 2010 as part of the wave Tea Party and sponsored legislation to eliminate citizenship for children born in the United States of undocumented immigrants . He is a staunch supporter of President Trump, and his family's reaction to Gosar's health, immigration and social positions reflects deep divisions between Republicans and Democrats ahead of the November elections.
"We are troubled by what is happening in this country and we are troubled by our brother's share in this regard," David Gosar said in an interview Sunday. The family has not said anything publicly in the first seven years of Mr. Gosar's term, but Trump has "reinforced extremism" to the point that others must speak out, even if it undermines family dynamics said David Gosar.
Paul Gosar's campaign did not respond to a request for comment. Cook Political Report believes that its seat is safe for Republicans.
Family conflicts between other candidates are overflowing. The brother of Randy Bryce, the Democrat in search of the seat of House Speaker Paul Ryan in Wisconsin, has posted an announcement for a super PAC in support of Republican candidate Bryan Steil. The mothers of Mr. Bryce and Mr. Gosar publicly supported their political sons.

Mr. Gosar hit his brothers and sisters in a series of tweets saturday. "My brothers and sisters who choose to film ads against me are all Liberal Democrats who hate President Trump," he wrote. "You can not choose your family," he wrote in another tweet, adding, "To the six angry democrats, Gosars, at dad and mom's house!"
Most of the siblings that appear in the ad campaign reside in Wyoming, from where the Gosar family comes from.
Last year, seven Gosar brothers and sisters wrote an open letter accusing him of having sounded an "anti-Semitic dog whistle" in his comments after a march of white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia. Shortly after, David Gosar opened a Twitter account on his brother, which he often refers to as "Weasel".
All of this caught the attention of the Brill campaign. In mid-June, Jay Ruby, a campaign assistant for Mr. Brill, called David Gosar to discuss. A subsequent three-hour conversation led to calls with other family members. "We were ready to listen to them in a way that was not their own brother's," Ruby said.
Mr. Ruby and David Gosar stated that no one was paid and nothing was written.
