THE SCORE OF THE BOX
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Raiders had a half-time lead for the third time in three weeks. They leave another slide.
This put money and black in a stalemate. They are not good at getting out of the chokes.
This is primarily why the Raiders did not win.
Silver and black remain without a win after Sunday's 28-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium.
Raiders can not close, attacking or defending. They are better than 0-3 suggests, but it does not matter at this stage. A season that has suffered before his departure with Khalil Mack's trade has always let the Raiders fall through three games – and their season downhill fast.
Can we reverse the situation? Time will tell, but a long series of victories is needed to start the season. Right now, the Raiders can not even start the car.
Here are three quick stories of Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.
Raiders still can not finish
The Raiders had a hard time closing the games despite fierce competition. The attack slowed as Sunday's game continued and the defense was defeated on a pass from the receiver (!!!) Albert Wilson to Jakeem Hunt while the Dolphins led in the fourth quarter.
Derek Carr and the Raiders attack had ample time to recover, but the team's interlocutor launched an interception in the end zone. Two games later, Albert Wilson took a 74-yard shovel pass to put the Dolphins two minutes from the end.
The 2016 Raiders had the magic of the fourth quarter, which went well in 12-4. It's been gone for a long time. They start warmly and clearly have solid game plans, but they struggled to make adjustments late in the games, and they did not run well enough to win.
As long as it is, the Raiders will have trouble. Their fans, in turn, will be heartbroken far too often.
Struggle to break through
The attack of the Raiders can move the football. The Silver and Black took the best yards but struggled to cross the goal line this season. This has been problematic every week and the trend has continued against the Dolphins.
The Raiders were able to gain ground in the first period, but they scored only one touchdown despite being in the red zone three times. This kept the game tight and a Marshawn Lynch TD race allowed the team to score two points later in the third quarter. It could have been an explosion at that time, if the Raiders converted to correct chances. Instead, the dolphins went wild, took a lead in the fourth quarter and supported it.
The Raiders have not exceeded 20 points in the first two games for the same reasons, and the team needs to work inside the 20-meter line for maximum efficiency. It cost the Raiders that day and put them in an uncomfortable but familiar position with seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
Hey, Jordy
Jordy Nelson has 53 yards in two games. Then he passed that on a hold.
Nelson ran 61 yards on the second game of the game to establish the first Raiders score. He hit another long one later in the game, all in one match that Jon Gruden has exploited several times.
This comes after Jared Cook was the main target of Week 1 and Amari Cooper left at Week 2.
Nelson has six passes for 173 yards in this game.
Nelson is used to a new ploy and offensive system after a decade in Green Bay, but he found an early pace against Miami and made some big games. This shows that he can be a weapon in the passing game and force the defenses to play honestly with Cooper and Cook. This will be a long term benefit for an Oakland attack with a lot of weapons.
