The Jaguars missed opportunities combined with untimely turnovers on Sunday and that cost them a fall against the Tennessee Titans 9-6 in a AFC South division showdown in Jacksonville. This is the first Jaguars defeat at TIAA Bank Field since October 15, 2017, ending a seven-game winning streak at the stadium.
The Jaguars could not play at home and missed an opportunity to sit alone at the top of the AFC South division. Instead, they share first place tied with the Titans. Both teams are 2-1. Jaguar head coach Doug Marrone looked at his team's costly mistakes, including the failure of a false flight attempt early in the first half of the year.
"We tried to be aggressive early with the false boot. We had the look we wanted; we did not run it. It's totally on me, "Marrone admitted. "I always regret decisions that do not work. I just wanted to be aggressive early and have the look. It seemed fine in practice and we did not run it.

The lack of execution seemed to be the theme of the day for Jacksonville. After the match, quarterback Jaguars Blake Bortles tried to explain to reporters what was wrong.
"We just did not run. We have to play games. We can not be first and 20, second and 20th. We have the opportunity, we have to play the game, "said Bortles.
What a difference a single week can make. After leading the Jaguars with four touchdowns against the Patriots last Sunday, Bortles and his company could not get the offense against the Titans. Bortles completed 21 of 34 passes for 155 yards without any touchdowns or interceptions.
For the second week in a row, the Jaguars did not have a key element in their attack, running back Leonard Fournette. Bortles, 26, apologized and he did not mince words when asked what had happened with the offensive against Tennessee.
"Offensively, we did not play well. We killed ourselves. We made stupid punishments, falls, missing shots. We must not hurt ourselves, "said Bortles. "I'm thinking in particular about how our defense is and how they play, we have to score a touchdown and win the game. No six points in four quarters is a fault. Despite defeat, the Jaguars defense continues to play with tenacity. The captain and defensive lineman Calais Campbell had a bag performance of 2.0. He beat Titans quarterback Blaine Gabbert in the first quarter and recorded his second bag of the game when he took quarterback Marcus Mariota in the third quarter. After the game, Campbell was asked if the loss was a blow for the Jaguars because it was a division game.
"When I entered the locker room it was difficult because it was a team that said publicly that they had no respect for us and that they were the champions. Then they went out and beat us, "Campbell said. "It shows us what we have to do in the division. It shows us where we have to go. Once again, we are more than capable and the next time we play them, I guarantee that we will be more than ready to play them.
Despite the frustrating day, Bortles tried to keep things in perspective.

Jaguars defensive tackle Malik Jackson, called in the first half for an expensive penalty, weighed in on the team's first loss.
"It's just a reality check. We have to go back to the drawing board, so that's what it is, "Jackson said. "It's going to create character, and we'll see if we can bounce back. It will not destroy us.
