A little boy drowns in the bathtub of the East Jefferson County apartment; investigation in progress

A 5-month-old child died after drowning in an apartment in eastern Jefferson County.

Representatives from the Center Point Fire Center and Jefferson County Sheriff's Center responded to the Jefferson County Housing Administration Complex at 8:19 pm, said the Center Point Fire Chief. , Donnie West. When the doctors arrived on the scene, the child was transported from the apartment.

A dispatcher had given CPR instructions while the first responders were on the way and the paramedics were taking over and continuing to try to revive the baby on the way to Children's of Alabama.

Deputy Chief Randy Christian said the boy was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. According to the first information gathered on the scene, the child's father placed him in the bathtub and left the room.

When he returned, he found the child insensitive.

"I can not imagine how difficult it will be for this child's family," said Christian. "It will be heartbreaking for all those involved, God be with them."
