An MRI confirmed on Monday the fears of the San Francisco 49ers: quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL and his season is over, the team said.
A few minutes after the 49-47 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said his team feared an injury to the ACL.
Garoppolo's injury occurred around 5:35 of Sunday's match. In the third and second goal of the 20 Kansas City, Garoppolo felt the pressure of the defensive end of the leaders Justin Houston on his right side. Garoppolo escaped Houston and slid down the left sideline.
A stump of veal should allow 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman to come out for the next two or three weeks, sources told ESPN.
San Francisco has lost Jimmy G, but the Niners will be relying on Beathard who has faith in the locker room.

After gaining 13 yards, Garoppolo had the choice between going out of bounds or staying and hitting a defender. He took an embarrassing step near the sideline with his left leg before hitting cornerback Steven Nelson at 7 in Kansas City.

Beathard did not attempt a pass that counted in Sunday's game, although he started five games as a rookie last season, including San Francisco's first win of the season against New York Giants.
