According to reports, the British musician Gary Numan is said to be "totally devastated" after his tour bus struck and killed a 91-year-old man in Cleveland, Ohio.
Police said the bus was turning right when it hit the pedestrian, who was pushing a cart and died at the scene on Monday. Numan canceled his performance at the House of Blues that night.
Numan tweeted"Each of us is filled with a sadness that makes it impossible to contemplate playing our show tonight, and out of respect that would have been completely wrong.
"At the moment, all we can think of is the people affected by this terrible tragedy and for them, we send all our love."
It is not known if Numan was on board when the incident took place. The 45-year-old bus driver has not been arrested, but the police are investigating the incident, reports Rolling Stone. A priest administered the last sacraments to the victim, reports Cleveland's WKYC television channel.
The Coast to Coast Coach Company confirmed to WKYC that it had rented the bus for the Numan Tour. "In our 34 years of business, this has never happened," he said.
It is unclear whether the dates of the remaining Numan US tour will be affected by the incident. The Guardian contacted representatives of the musician.
Numan, 60, made his name in the late 1970s before the band Tubeway Army. Their combination of synthesizers and dystopian themes quickly became popular.
The musician released his first album under his own name, The Pleasure Principle, in 1979 and had a hit with No 1. He is currently shooting his 18th album, Savage (Songs From a Broken World).
