A Texas senator, Ted Cruz, was forced to leave a restaurant in Washington, DC on Monday night by a group protesting Supreme Court candidate Brett Kavanaugh.
Cruz and his wife, Heidi, ate at Fiola, an upscale Italian restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue, when a group of protesters approached them.
In a video posted on Twitter by Smash Racism DC, we can hear the group singing "We believe the survivors", while Cruz and his wife sit at a table.
A protester told Cruz that she had survived a sexual assault and asked him how he would vote on Kavanaugh's confirmation.
"God bless you, ma'am," Cruz replied.
The group continued to sing until Cruz and his wife got up and left the restaurant.
"Ted Cruz and Brett Kavanaugh are the best friends," a protester shouted as the couple walked out of the restaurant.
Two women accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.
Christine Blasey Ford accused Kavanaugh of having assaulted her at a party while they were teenagers. But Kavanaugh denies that he was "in such a feast". In an interview with Fox News, he said that he "has never sexually assaulted anyone".
The second woman, Deborah Ramirez, accused Kavanaugh of being exposed to her at a party in a Yale dormitory, of putting his penis in his face and touching him without his consent while he was in bed. she pushed him away. Kavanaugh also denied this allegation.
President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell say they are determined to get Kavanaugh to court, calling the allegations false and politically motivated. Kavanaugh was also provocative.
Ford and Kavanaugh are scheduled to testify Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
"I will not let false accusations drive us out of this process," Kavanaugh said.
