Steven Avery has not finished fighting for his freedom.

Netflix announced Tuesday that Part 2 of its popular real crime docseries Make a murderer will be premiered on October 19th.

Make a murdererThe original 10 episode series of 2006 tells of the death sentences of Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey in 2006 following the death of Teresa Halbach, a 25-year-old Wisconsin photographer.

Avery maintained his innocence and the show sought to know if he had been wrongly convicted of a crime for the second time. He was released from prison for 18 years for a rape he did not commit.

The series sheds new light on the case, prompting a lawyer to overturn Dassey's conviction because his confessions, Make a murderer would have been forced. The Supreme Court refused to hear his case in June.

The family of Halbach, meanwhile, refused to participate in the series and loved ones have already rejected as unilateral.

"If people want to think [Avery] is innocent there is nothing I can do about it, but I know God knows what happened and that's what really matters to me, as long as his aunt Kay Giordana told PEOPLE in 2016.

"Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex network of US criminal justice," said creators Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos . .

"On the basis of the first part, which describes the experience of the accused, in the second part, we recounted the experience of convicts and jailed. "We are delighted to be able to share this new phase of the trip with viewers."

One of the main protagonists of the 10 new episodes will be Avery's prominent lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, whom he hired in early 2016.

In the teaser of the second part, a voice that sounds like Avery's says, "When you fight for your innocence and you have to prove it, it takes time."
