Racial insults in launderers battle at Hispanic Heritage Night

A hideous fight in the bleachers of Wrigley Field, which included an exchange of racist blows and remarks, took place after the Hispanic Heritage Night at the Cubs game Monday night, according to videos shared on social networks by a fan of the fight.

The incident began after the Cubs defeated the Pirates 5-1. The game featured special-priced tickets, which included t-shirts saying "Los Cubs".

Danny Rockett – who hosts the Cubs podcast The Son Ranto Show – began filming with at least half a dozen people involved in a scrum while others tried to distance them from each other. The scene takes place in the stands on the left in a largely empty stadium; organ music can be heard in the background.

Two men separate from the big group and exchange punches. "He hit me in the face," shouts a man. A woman can be heard screaming, "Stop it! Stop him! The smaller arguments start and stop.

We can see the security guards of the Cubs, dressed in red shirts, trying to separate the groups and eventually break things.

Another fan appears and shouts repeatedly: "There is no fight in the stands!" – but the fights continue.

After about a minute and a half, one can hear a man shouting bombs and what appears to be a racist insult to Hispanics as a woman tries to prevail. A man says, "It's gone again" – and another battle breaks out.

Rockett's tweet, including this video, was viewed almost a million times on Tuesday night.

In a second video posted by Rockett, the same man from the first video can be more clearly heard shouting insults to other fans.

"You started the first punch," he shouts. "You launched the first punch! You launched the first punch. He then cuts his hands around his mouth and launches two racist insults against Hispanics.

(Warning: the video contains strong language.)

The man who used the bond immediately saw Rockett filming and saying, "Do not record me!" And comes to him. We can see security putting pressure on Rockett to put his phone, "You are on private property. You do not have permission to film anyone. The video ends then.

The second video was viewed more than 200,000 times on Tuesday night.

When asked on Twitter what triggered the fight, Rockett responded in one word: "Racism." However, after being contacted by the Sun-Times, Rockett said, "I really do not know. Probably drunkards come and go. Nothing really seemed out of the ordinary until it was a melee.

Cubs spokesman Julian Green said all parties concerned were removed from Wrigley after the fight, which began about 15 minutes after the end of the match. They were interviewed by security on the outside. While "there was some interference during the match, no one came forward to know who had started it," said Green, and no one wanted to complain. No one has sustained serious injuries.

"We do not know the nature of what caused the fight, but both parties were escorted," said Green.

He stated that Cubs "have zero tolerance for combat and insensitive language and behavior. … Both parties were informed by the police and the security that they would not be accommodated in the stadium by 2018. "

He denied an affirmation made by a woman in the video in which she accused the security of taking "the White Party", claiming that all the people involved had been removed.

Green said the security guard was "incorrect" about filming fans – there is no policy against video recording in Wrigley.

"People are filming every time they come to the games," he said. "We will inform our staff about this."

The Chicago police stated that no other officer had been sent to fight at Wrigley Field at this time and that no arrests had been made.
