The ace of the Nationals joined the elusive 300 K club on Tuesday night.
The national championship Max Scherzer has become the third pitcher in the past 15 years to beat 300 batters in a season Tuesday against the Marlins.
Scherzer, who is the first Nats thrower to complete the 300-K feat, reached the milestone in the seventh inning when he eliminated Marlins rookie rookie Dean Dean after a 10-run pass. He allowed a run of five hits in seven innings, while cashing 10 strikeouts to take him to the elusive 300-K. His 150 hits this year are the lowest by a pitcher in a season of 300 withdrawals.

Scherzer has become the sixth pitcher since 1990 to record 300 strikeouts in a season, joining Curt Schilling, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Clayton Kershaw and Chris Sale. He leads the National League with strikeouts from 41 other than Just Mets Jacob deGrom.
The 34-year-old launcher is looking for his third consecutive Cy Young award alongside deGrom and Aaron Nola of Philadelphia.
Washington ended the match with a 9-4 win over Miami, giving Scherzer its 18th win this season.
