A woman from North Carolina kept her 93-year-old mother's body at home for several months because she was "curious about the stages of death," according to local police.
In the post, Davis said the case began when Hudgins went to a funeral director to make funeral arrangements "stating that his mother had passed this morning but that she did not know where EMS took the body. "
According to Davis, the funeral home has verified and stated to have no trace of receiving the body. Then, he added, "the funeral home is worried and contacted the Enfield Police Department."

The police, including Davis, then went to the Hudgins 'home where they found Nellie Mae Hudgins' badly decomposed body.
"The detectives interviewed Hudgins," said Davis, "and learned that she did not report the death because she was curious and wanted to see the stages of death."
Hudgins was later arrested and jailed on a $ 5,000 bail in Halifax County Jail. According to Raleigh WRAL, prison officials said Hudgins was no longer in custody.
His trial is scheduled for November 7, according to the Davis release. The Charlotte News & Observer said that we do not know if she has a lawyer.
Kenny Velasquez, who said he was separated from Nellie Hudgins' granddaughter, told WRAL that members of his family had tried to visit the oldest Hudgins, but that his daughter continued to apologize.
"Whenever someone passed by there, she would meet us at the door, say she was sleeping or something like that," Velasquez told the station. "Apparently, whenever someone calls, same thing."
A neighbor, Edna Burgess, told WRAL that afterwards, there were warning signs that her daughter had smelled nauseating for several weeks.
"I still have not paid attention," Burgess said. "I thought maybe it was a sewer or something."
