NEW YORK – US Ambassador Nikki Haley defended President Trump on Wednesday, saying the Americans are more prosperous than ever before and are blaming "disgusting" criticism of the media for "hurting" the rest of the world .
"It's really disgusting," says Haley in a morning appearance on "Fox & Friends". "The idea that he is not fit mentally. The idea that we were talking about the 25th amendment. None of this is true – it could not be further from the truth. You have a president who continues unabated. The Cabinet is just trying to stay with him.
Haley's remarks came one day after some world leaders laughed when Trump said in a speech at the US General Assembly that he had already accomplished more than most of his predecessors in the White House . This embarrassing moment pushed Trump to admit from the podium that he "did not expect this reaction", although he later insisted on the journalists' intention to laugh.

Trump was beset by new questions about his skills. A new book, "Fear", by journalist Bob Woodward reported that key collaborators sometimes sought to hide information from the president or ignore his orders to prevent what they believed to be Trump's worst instincts. And an unnamed New York Times column, written by an administration official, said many Trump associates were working to protect the country from impulsive decisions.
"It does things right and left," said Haley. "How can you honestly think that a man who does not know what he's doing does so much business, trade agreements, foreign policy, look at the stock market? Americans live better than they have ever had and you will question their leadership?
Haley said Trump was respected by his global peers and insisted that it is the US media that looks stupid in their coverage of the president.
"I watched the media yesterday and they all want to talk about the president's worldview; What they need to understand is that the world does not understand the US media right now, "she said, adding that she had a conversation with Trump with a world leader on Tuesday.
He said, "I can not believe they would ever talk about the indictment, the 25th Amendment." He said, "Do they understand it's America? "You do not play with something like that," said Haley. "The leaders do not understand why this is even a conversation, and they find it difficult for this country."
