A zoo keeper in Denmark said two male penguins had recently "kidnapped" a penguin chick from his parents.

Odie Zookeeper Sandie Hedgegard Munck said the zoo's male penguins, who she says are gay, took the girl with her parents there, the Danish broadcaster. DR reports. The chick's mother would have been bathing at that time.

Munck told the station that the male couple might have thought that the chick's parents were careless and thought that they could be better parents. So, the same-sex couple nested the chick and took care of it as if it was theirs.

Later, the chick's parents clashed with the gay couple and the tragedy ensued, captured in video and posted on the Odense Zoo Facebook page. One of the new adoptive parents of the chick screaming at parents, keeping the chick between them and craning their necks. The zookeeper intervenes and returns the chick to his parents. Mom takes charge, securing the chick between her legs.

But the same-sex couple was not completely childless. The zoo gave the males an egg from a mother who is incapable of it.
