Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been banned from a UEFA Champions League match by UEFA, which means he will be available for face the former club Manchester United.
Ronaldo received a 29-minute red card in his Champions League debut for Juventus in a 2-0 win over Valencia after clashing with Jeison Murillo. The decision was widely criticized, the boss of Juventus, Massimiliano Allegri, insisting that VAR would have seen a different end result.
Sources told ESPN FC that the penalty would be limited to a single game ban and that this has now been confirmed. That means Ronaldo will miss Young Boys' visit on Oct. 2, but will have the opportunity to return to Old Trafford for the United clash on Oct. 23.
Ronaldo spent six seasons with the club from 2003 to 2009, winning three league titles, a Champions League and the first of his five Gold Ball.
He has come back once since he left the club and scored the goal that allowed Real Madrid to come out of the Champions League in 2013.
