According to a new study, if you plan to remove junk food from your diet, you may be suffering from withdrawal symptoms.
Researchers at the University of Michigan have found that stopping junk food triggers withdrawal symptoms similar to drug addiction.
Although previous studies have focused on sugar weaning, it's the first to look at the symptoms that people contract when they abandon junk food, especially french fries and pizzas.
In the study, researchers asked 231 adults to report what happened when they had reduced the amount of junk food they ate.
The results revealed that participants experienced sadness, irritability, fatigue and thirst during the first 2 to 5 days after quitting.
From there, the negative effects have diminished.
This corresponds to the evolution of symptoms of medical withdrawal.

The results suggest that withdrawal symptoms can make eating difficult, which could explain why so many people return to their unhealthy eating habits.
So, if you are struggling with your diet, remember that the first few days are the worst!
