During an exceptional year for EDM and Latin pop collaborations, DJ Snake is the latest producer to connect with artists from the diaspora of Latin American music. "I wanted to do a reggaeton hit," explained DJ Snake at Display panel Thursday of "Taki Taki". He first sent the piece to Ozuna, but said that he had decided at the last minute to add a feminine touch.
"Ozuna crushed it," explained DJ Snake, "but I wanted more women on the record" – which prompted him to enlist the Latin pop queens Cardi B and Selena Gomez for the track. The result is a burst of effervescent personalities – Puerto Rican drummer Ozuna flaunts his swagger in Spanish, while Cardi B and Gomez bring it to light with their own bilingual ideas. DJ Snake started by teasing the collaboration in August by tweeting a photo of four chairs of directors – plus a tiny chair for Cardi B's daughter, Kulture – with the names of stars stitched on it.
DJ Snake alluded to a new album coming later this year. It would be the continuation of his album 2016 Bis, starring Justin Bieber and Skrillex, who debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200.
