A "miracle" baby born gravely prematurely and weighing less than a bag of sugar defied the odds, and six months later, it is now a prosperous little girl.
Little Elsie weighed only 1 lb. 10 oz. And was smaller than the palm of her mother when she was born four months before term in April.
It was not expected that the toddler would visit the doctors and say that his chances of survival were slim.

But now, six months later, the little girl is enjoying life like any other normal baby.
The terrified mother Jade Latimer Kenya was rushed to hospital by her partner Ashley, 29, while she was starting to experience labor pains on April 3, just 24 weeks old.
"She was so small," said the 21-year-old mom. "It was surreal and I was in shock … everything happened so fast."
"One minute she was delivered, the next she was taken to the neonatal intensive care unit and placed on a ventilator," she said. was so delicate. It was heartbreaking for us to see our daughter so badly connected to several tubes to help her survive. "

Two weeks before baby Elsie was born, Latimer started having problems.
"I had a normal pregnancy until I started bleeding at 22 weeks," she said. "I was taken to the hospital where the doctors told me that I had 4 cm of dilatation and that the baby's chances of survival were slim, shocked and upset."
"They discussed my options, one of which was a surgery called" cervical point "to prevent premature birth. It was a risky procedure and we were very lucky that it works, "she said. However, two weeks later, I started to feel contractions again and this time I knew the baby was coming. "
While at Burnley General Hospital, baby Elsie was monitored 24 hours a day, treated with special care, and underwent laser eye surgery to treat retinopathy of prematurity.

"She literally weighed nothing when she was born," said Latimer, of Clitheroe, Lancs. "Ashley and I sat next to her every day, from noon to 9 pm, to let her get out."

After weeks of specialized care at the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit on August 5, four months after his birth, the new fighter returned home.
Despite setbacks, Kenya acknowledged that it was the "best feeling" ever obtained when she was allowed to bring Elsie home.
Now, almost six months, Elsie enjoys life like any other little girl.
"Elsie is a beautiful little baby – our little bundle of joy," said Latimer. "She is very well at home, she is gaining weight and is teething."
"I would like to thank my family and friends for their support during this difficult time in our lives and the medical staff – the care we received was absolutely exceptional and we will be grateful forever," said Elsie. we like it little. One of the most difficult things about a premature baby is to see her so fragile and not being able to help her sometimes to not be able to touch my baby because she's is so poor.
