Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant said Friday that he had recovered his original wedding ring decades after his disappearance while someone had found him "in an old couch".

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant said Friday that he had recovered his alliance decades after his disappearance after someone found him "in an old sofa".
A man identified as Jeff Maher informed Bryant's office after making this unlikely find, Governor Clay Chandler's spokesman told The Associated Press.

The couch in question – which once belonged to Bryant – appeared in Maher's possession after he took it on the side of the road in front of the home of a relative of Bryant's wife, Chandler said.
The couple donated the furniture to the first lady's cousin, Deborah Bryant, in 1989 – the same year the governor thinks he's gone, Chandler said.
The initials of the Bryants, as well as the date of their marriage on December 31, 1976, were inscribed on the gold wedding band.

The governor met Maher in Copiah County to retrieve the ring and posted a picture of the moment on Twitter.
"My friend Jeff Maher found my 1976 alliance in an old couch" tweeted. "It's been lost since 1989. Thanks, Jeff!
