Gal Gadot Joins Kenneth Branagh in Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile

Last year, Kenneth Branagh made a film adaptation of Agatha Christie's classic novel, Murder at the Orient Express. Branagh himself has taken on the lead role of Hercule Poirot, a detective investigating a murder committed in a moving European train. Supporting Branagh in distribution have been key players in Hollywood, including Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Willem Dafoe, Daisy Ridley and Johnny Depp. The film grossed $ 351 million against a $ 55 million budget, and Branagh was quick to replicate that success with a sequel.

With the return of Kenneth Branagh, 20th Century Fox progressed with the official follow-up movie, Death on the Nile. Also based on a novel by Agatha Christie, the script is written by Michael Green, who also wrote Murder at the Orient Express. The plot will follow Poirot in a new mystery solving adventure, this time on a luxurious cruise ship on the Nile. The curious inspector must again go to the bottom of a murder when someone arrives dead on the boat. However, things go from bad to worse when potential Poirot suspects also begin to die.

To this day, Branagh has not been confirmed to take over the role of Poirot, but it seems likely that he will come back to the realization. If Branagh took the role, he compared Gal Gadot, whose casting in the film has just become official. The popular Wonder Woman the actress will take the role of Linnet Ridgeway Doyle, a rich heiress of the cruise. It remains to be seen how his character plays exactly in the odious murders that occur on the ship, but anyway, the importance of the role suggests that it will be very important in the story.

It will not be the first feature film based on the original novel by Agatha Christie. In 1978, John Guillerman released his version of the film using a screenplay by screenwriter Anthony Shaffer.
