Baton Rouge police arrested the LSU Wayde Sims basketball fugitive.
The public information officer, Don Coppola of the city / parish of Baton Rouge, confirmed the arrest in an email addressed to USA TODAY Sports Saturday morning. The Baton Rouge Police Department will hold a press conference on Saturday at 11:00 am ET.
Police say Sims, 20, was shot early Friday morning and died from a local hospital injury. The shooting took place near Southern University, north of downtown Baton Rouge. Sims was a junior striker from Baton Rouge.
He averaged 5.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in 10 starts for LSU last season. He was named Player of the Year in Louisiana Gatorade after his junior season at University High School, and his father also played at LSU.
