Kanye West revealed that he had changed his name to "Ye" before his much-anticipated appearance in "Saturday Night Live".

West shared the news of his name change on Twitter and wrote Saturday morning in a tweet, "To be officially known as Kanye West, I am YES".

The rapper turned fashion designer, who is expected to participate in the premiere of the season of "SNL" with his host Adam Driver, is expected to release his new album "YHANDI" during the variety show Saturday night.

West's sudden name change could be linked to the release of his new music, but "Ye" is also the title of his June 1 album, which he spent months recording at his Jackson Hole ranch , Wyoming.

On Thursday, before his announcement "Ye", the father of North, Saint and Chicago, which he shares with Kim Kardashian, also shared an image of himself on the NBC series.

In the photo, West stands alongside Kenan Thompson, an SNL and Driver actor, while wearing a white hat and sweatshirt with Free Hoover. The sweatshirt looked like the one he had worn earlier this week and that seemed to support Colin Kaepernick. The rapper, known for his controversial political views and his support for Donald Trump, will seem to continue to be interested in politics even on the SNL scene.

The next day, West was photographed leaving the studio in New York with his wife and children in the late evening. Kardashian was wearing a hot pink mini dress while walking behind West while they were coming out of Electric Lady Studios.

And while West has expressed his enthusiasm for the release of his new music, the artist, little known for his humility, acknowledged that "YHANDI" would probably make his debut behind "The Carter V", Lil Wayne's new album.
