HARRISBURG, PA. (CBS / AP) – Pennsylvanians can breathe a sigh of relief if they have not updated their current licenses.

The state has another extension to comply with a federal law requiring that driver's licenses and photo IDs meet anti-terrorism standards.
The Wolf Administration states that the US Department of Homeland Security has informed US authorities that Pennsylvania has been granted an extension until early August 2019 to comply with REAL ID guidelines.
"I am grateful that DHS has recognized Pennsylvania's efforts to comply with the REAL ID Act," said Governor Tom Wolf.
The extension allows residents of Pensylvania to continue using their current driver's licenses to access federal facilities such as courthouses and jails and board commercial aircraft, officials said.
Driver licenses and REAL ID compliant photo IDs must be available in March 2019, but customers are encouraged to check the required documentation as soon as possible.

Earlier, PennDOT spokeswoman Alexis Campbell said that state officials were working on the REAL ID program by October 1, 2020, which is the deadline. Federal.
