Two teenagers were charged following a high-speed police chase involving a vehicle that corresponds to the description of a truck involved in the the death of Phil Trenary, CEO of Greater Memphis Chamber.

Shymontre Reed, 19, and Quandarius Richardson, 18, were arrested following a lawsuit in Mississippi Boulevard and East McLemore Avenue, police said.

Their charges are related to alleged vehicle theft and police pursuit and are not related to the homicide. The original description of the suspect was that of a man with dreadlocks. None of the teenagers arrested in the accident seem to have dreadlocks in his photos.

Reed has been charged with stealing property worth between $ 10,000 and $ 60,000, avoiding arrest and a breach of probation, according to prison records.

Richardson has been charged with theft of property between $ 10,000 and $ 60,000, auto theft, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, driving without a license and flight.

The prison records show that they were held in jail around 4 am Saturday. Both were taken to the hospital after the lawsuit, which ended in an accident involving several vehicles.

The police pursued the stolen white Ford F-150 truck matching the description of the suspicious vehicle when Trenary died, before crashing Friday morning in South Memphis and causing injury, said Memphis police .

Three vehicles were involved in the accident and two other people were injured, said Lt. Karen Rudolph to reporters at the scene of the accident.

According to an affidavit of Richardson, both people were seriously injured and one of them was in critical condition immediately after the accident.

At approximately 10:55 am, the officers arrived behind the truck in Watkins Street and Signal Street in Frayser, said Mr. Rudolph, about eight miles from where the lawsuit ended.

The police tried to stop the vehicle after the labels showed that the vehicle had been stolen, but the driver refused, Rudolph said.

"During the pursuit, the vehicle was traveling at high speed in residential neighborhoods," the affidavit said. "The pursuit continued to the highway where the vehicle was traveling at extremely high speed."

The affidavit indicated that Richardson was driving the vehicle during the pursuit and admitted to stealing and driving the vehicle.
