It may have been a two-part history for West Virginia, but a 42-34 victory on the road against Texas Tech was enough to propel the Mountaineers into the top 10 of the latest USA Today poll Amway Coaches. West Virginia took a warm start with a 35-10 lead at half-time before slacking over the next two quarters, allowing Texas Tech to return to the match. Still, the Eers are 4-0 and look like the best contender in Oklahoma in the Big 12 race.
In addition, Clemson's 27-23 victory over Syracuse with alternate quarterback Chase Brice led the Tigers to lose two places in fourth place, allowing Georgia to climb to second place and Ohio State, just after his victory. 27-26 on the road to Penn State, to slip up to No. 3. However, the Bulldogs have not received a first-place vote.
Penn State lost only two places following the loss to the Buckeyes, but Stanford, another top-10 team in action in Week 5, lost seven places in 14th place after being treated by Notre Dame 38 -17. Colorado and NC State enter the top 25 for the first time this season while Mississippi State and Duke lost after losing to Week 5.
