The Cleveland Browns can not win on the road.
Cleveland lost his 23rd consecutive game Sunday, even though he led the Oakland Raiders 42-34 less than a minute from the end. Derek Carr (35 of 58 for 437 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions) led the playoff to level the playing field and moved the offensive into Matt McCrane's shooting range for the overtime winner to land. 45-42 victory at Oakland-Alameda Coliseum.
Baker Mayfield narrowly missed out on his first career start and finished 21 of 41 goals for 295 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Cleveland dropped to 1-2-1 and Oakland improved to 1-3.
Brown fans have to wait for ups and downs with Baker Mayfield
The Browns finally have their franchise quarter – it was clear while Mayfield saved the team in the week 3 win over the New York Jets with its contagious energy and playability.
Mayfield flashed his potential again Sunday, avoiding leg pressure, passing through a tight window – including a rifle for Darren Fells for his first career touchdown – and an impressive pass with a pass for Jarvis Landry in the corner of the end zone.
However, he was also responsible for much of Oakland's production. He made six picks on Stationon Conley in the first quarter and allowed the Raiders to return with a breakaway in the Cleveland 10-meter line in the third quarter and a fall in the fourth quarter, leading to touchdowns.

Baker Mayfield got a choice of six players and a very bad shot escaped right now, deep in his territory. And … it's okay. Do enough good games today … to justify his departure.
He also launched an interception on what could have been the winning race at the end of the settlement.
There is always trouble recruiting beginners when they are immersed in the discouraging reality of playing NFL defenses, and that's exactly what Brown fans need to prepare for. This is particularly the case of Mayfield, who was an aggressive playmaker in Oklahoma and who did not hesitate to take risks if he could lead to games that will change the game.
Sometimes these decisive games will benefit the other team, but they will most often play at the expense of Cleveland.
The resilience he has shown in directing the scoring units on three consecutive holdings after the pick-six and again to take back the advantage in the last quarter is a requirement of the franchise quarterbacks. That's exactly what Mayfield will be, but there will be valleys with peaks.
The adventurers are better than the results of the recordings
The Raiders have been a hit line in the first three weeks of the season, especially since Khalil Mack has been such a force for the Chicago Bears. In fact, Oakland was last in the league with three sacks coming into the slate on Sunday, while Chicago was first with 14.
The misguided trade made the headlines, but the product on the ground is better than the record 1-3 suggests. In fact, the Raiders dominated their two losses in the second half, including the 20-point loss to the Los Angeles Rams. They lost by one against the Denver Broncos and eight against the Miami Dolphins and are a stone's throw from 3-1.

They made these games Sunday with Conley's pick-six, two Johnathan Hankins fumble recoveries that led to scores and an offense that used all its playmakers. Marshawn Lynch (20 strokes for 130 yards) crossed the bar for the first time this year, and Carr is paired with Jared Cook (twice), Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson for touchdowns.
Lynch, Nelson and Cook have many veterans to keep the team afloat after a dull start. Cooper (128 yards) crossed the 100-yard mark for the second time this year, which is the total of the 2017 campaign.
Sunday's show highlighted the fact that Oakland has explosive offensive weapons. The Raiders will be dangerous in Africa Africa Africa Africa even without Mack if they manage to get a turnaround of the defense, as they did against Mayfield.
The key to Nick Chubb's ability to unlock Browns' potential
Nothing prevents young quarterbacks more effectively than a strong offense, and Cleveland has the ingredients to control the games in the field.
Carlos Hyde is a solid opponent who scored his fifth touchdown of the season Sunday and demonstrated the physical ability to convert to the goal line and in short-distance situations. However, Nick Chubb's playing ability can raise the level of the Browns, especially in a thunderous situation with Hyde.
The Georgia product triggered a 63-yard touchdown in the first half and a 41-yard score in the fourth quarter, proving that he should have scored more than his three carries for 105 yards.
With Josh Gordon on the New England Patriots and Landry more cashed after collecting 8.8 yards per jack last season, Chubb gives the Browns a rare threat of a shot at goal that can force defensemen into the box. to open the way for passers-by for Mayfield.
Although Hyde proved a player capable of coming back, Cleveland must mix Chubb to open the offensive, especially in the back and forth business like Sunday.
Oakland could not stop him, and the threat of his speed for the opponents' defenses will give Mayfield more projection windows that he can exploit with more experience.
And after?
Both teams face divisional foes in Week 5 with the Browns hosting the Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Chargers Raiders.
