SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, LA – The Susan G. Komen Foundation works hard to help women defeat breast cancer and many people joined them on Saturday in the race for healing.
More than 1,300 people filled the century's focal point to fight breast cancer.

Becky Tripp, affiliate coordinator for Susan G Komen's North Louisiana, said: "It's one of our two largest fundraisers here in North Louisiana."
The 5K is the culmination of the event, as is breast cancer education.

"And 75% of the funds we collect at events like this, stay in our community, to provide mammograms to women," Tripp said.
Hundreds of survivors filled the places by sharing their stories. Like Charlene Jordan, a 60-year-old breast cancer survivor.
"I am so grateful to my Lord that he has allowed me to live and enjoy each day," said Charlene Jordan.
At 28, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has led a healthy lifestyle. Charlene says that she wants other survivors to remember to stay active and healthy.
"I thank the Lord every day that he gave me and I lived it to the fullest .I have always witnessed the survival of other cancer survivors." during the years following life after breast cancer. "
This is the 24th year of the Komen race in northwestern Louisiana.
