The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an emergency landing aircraft this morning near the Dallas North Tollway.
The FAA said the pilot of the single-engine Cirrus SR-22 had filed a flight plan from Addison Airport to Waco, but minutes after takeoff, they had encountered engine problems.
Firefighters from the farmer's branch said that the pilot had warned the Addison tower that they were losing power, that they were feeling something burnt and that they were also in trouble electric and instrument.
The FAA stated that the pilot declared an emergency and realized that he could not return to the airport.
The pilot deployed the aircraft parachute and landed safely on the parking lot of a commercial enterprise just three blocks west of the road about one and a half kilometers from the Addison Airport.
"I looked out at the right time because I noticed the plane," said the witness Ben Muchoki, "probably within 2 to 3 seconds of seeing it," I said. I saw fire from the tail of the plane and this big parachute rises slowly descending. "
The pilot and the passenger are fine.
A firefighter said that one of the aircraft 's fuel tanks had been broken and that it had had to be emptied before the plane could be moved.
The investigators looked at what appeared to be a round hole burned by the nose just to the right of the prop.
