A Brooklyn man threw his four-year-old brother off the roof of their seven-story building because he "wanted to see if God could protect the child," police sources said Sunday.
Twenty-year-old Shawn J. Smith reportedly pulled his younger brother Shimron out of bed at around 2:30 am on Saturday morning. He hauled him from their apartment on the sixth floor to the roof of the building, where he threw Shimron exhausted.
Shawn, who is reported to have schizophrenia, was charged with second degree murder after confessing the crime to two police officers. Police said they had video footage in support of their guilt. wot
According to the police, Shawn approached two uniformed police officers who were nearby within an hour of the incident. "I need to talk to you," he said, according to police. "My brother can be hurt. Shimron was found in a yard behind the building and declared dead on the scene.
