The Seahawks are coming back to the race and it's great
The Seahawks lost two players for the season Sunday. Will Dissly return in 2019. Earl Thomas can not.
The Seahawks will not have two productive players for the rest of the season. Counts Thomas and Will Dissly were injured Sunday in Seattle's victory over Arizona. The 12-year-old knows that Dissly will be back next year. Thomas, however, can never play another low in a Seahawks uniform.
Badly hurt his patellar tendon. That's the same type of injury that Jimmy Graham had suffered in 2016 and it seemed like Graham was slow to regain his health. Just started the season with a 100-yard reception game. But Dissly also had a touchdown in the second week.
Seattle will miss the ability to capture passes. But the fact that Dissly is doing so well in this area was a little unexpected. Where the Seahawks will need to find someone to replace the tight end, is the blockage.
Overall, Dissly is the 14th best end of the NFL in 2018, according to Pro Football Focus.
Thomas, of course, left the field on Sunday with his middle finger lifted apparently to the Seahawks sidelines. The free security lasted all pre-season in a contract dispute because Thomas wanted an extension that Seattle did not offer.
Thomas broke his leg during a contactless game.
Several players and coaches have expressed how much we will miss Thomas. Defenseman Frank Clark said, "All we can do for the moment is to continue to go out there and win games for him."
Quarterback Russell Wilson said, "He is one of the best players to ever play the game, and he will always be."
There is no doubt that we will miss Thomas in Seattle. But with Thomas absent, at least part of the drama is over to find out if Thomas will show up to train or play football games.
