Ismail Halavurt, the lawyer of US pastor Andrew Brunson convicted in Turkey, has appealed the decision of the country's Constitutional Court, the Turkish media reported on October 3.
Earlier, Halavurt appealed to the court for serious crimes committed by Turkey to overturn the decision on Brunson's house arrest.
On July 26, US President Donald Trump promised to impose "heavy sanctions" on Turkey for arresting US pastor Andrew Brunson, accused of having participated in the attempted coup d'etat in Turkey in 2016.
"The United States will impose heavy sanctions on Turkey for their long-term detention of Pastor Andrew Brunson, a great Christian, family man and wonderful human being," Trump told Twitter. "He is suffering a lot. This innocent man of faith should be released immediately!
On August 17, the court of the Turkish city of Izmir again refused to release the pastor from his house arrest.
