Several people injured in gun battle in front of Germantown Dollar General store

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) –

One person died and four others were shot and wounded as a result of a shootout outside a Dollar General store in the Germantown neighborhood in the city on Wednesday afternoon.

Using chisels and saws, the detectives worked to remove the bullets lodged in the trees, after stating that at least 18 shots had been fired at around 2:30 pm. on Germantown Avenue near Manheim Street.

Police said several people were hanging out near a wall at the end of an alley outside a Dollar General store when a white car arrived by car and somebody was walking around. one opened fire from the inside.

"The occupants of a White Chevy Impala went through the parking lot, firing several shots, hitting the five men," said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross. "They then turned north on Germantown Avenue."

Ross said the police believed that there was more than one person in the car.

Witnesses said that the shots came from nowhere.

"You just hear like a pow-pow, like firecrackers turn off or whatever and you see a lot of people running around," Tasha Robertson said.

Alhambra Ali said that he was in his hair salon nearby, when the shots were fired. He ran for help.

"I was cutting, then I heard gunshots, I looked out the door and saw a young black man lying on the ground", a- " he declared. "Without any assistance, he ran there, but in the process the police came."

In total, five people were taken to the Einstein Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

Police said that a 23-year-old man was shot in the left hand, a 19-year-old man was shot in the right hand, another 19-year-old man was shot in the right foot and a 20-year-old man was hit in the right arm. All were in a stable state.

A fifth man, aged 20, was shot in the head. Police took him to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. He died later in the hospital.

Ross stated that the shooting did not appear to be random and that the police believed that the victims were the target targets.

"It's a shameless act. It's big day. Just in front of a shopping center. Just in front of a small supermarket. It shows how some of these guys are insensitive and what we face every day, "Ross said.

Investigators said that no weapons had been recovered and that the reason for the shooting was unknown at the moment.

The police have a video surveillance of the scene and she is looking for more.
